Hi,
I'am Marlen
My path to art
With my backpack, I travelled alone through Southeast Asia for six months and began making jewellery by hand with the locals. There, I realised that this was exactly what I wanted: to work freely and creatively.
Back in Germany, I quickly fell back into old patterns and began studying communication design. But the birth of my daughter boosted my self-confidence. That's why I took the plunge into self-employment in 2020.
My art is created in the moment
I paint without a plan. Without a sketch. Without knowing what the picture will look like in the end. I let go – and let it flow. Every brushstroke is created in the moment, every picture carries its own energy.
Sometimes it starts with a colour that calls out to me. Sometimes with a feeling that wants to come out. I paint intuitively, letting my hands do the work without my head getting in the way. And that's exactly what makes my art so vibrant. It's not smooth, it's not perfect – it's real.
Each work tells its own story.
And when you look at it, you can feel them. Perhaps your own.
My own gallery
For three years, I travelled around markets with my art, but it deserved more space and appreciation. So I opened my own shop – first as a pop-up store, then as a gallery. Here I can display art as it deserves to be displayed. People experience how they feel a connection to the works. I love those magical moments when someone stands in front of a picture and knows: this belongs to me.
My gallery in Potsdam is more than just a space – it is a place where art lives, touches and finds its place – just like the people who take it home with them. As an anchor. As a mirror. As inspiration.
